Description

'This list entry was subject to a Minor Amendment on 24 January 2022 to update text and reformat to current standards SK 35 SW 2/15 PARISH OF ALDERWASLEY, WHATSTANDWELL, Alderwasley Lodge 6.9.78 GV II Lodge. Mid-C19 enlargement of an earlier structure. Coursed squared gritstone with coped gables except to west side, intermediate stack, off the ridge, with diagonally set coupled stone pots. Stone slates and plain tiles. 'L' plan house in the local C17 vernacular style. East elevation: two storeys, two bays with advanced gable to north end, with canted bay to ground floor, with mullions and transoms beneath a shallow pitched roof. Above, a two-light chamfer mullioned window beneath a hoodmould with stops. South bay with two semi-circular headed arches to ground floor, divided by a plain square pillar, forming an arcaded porch to entrance with six-panelled door. Former single storey outhouse to west now raised to two storey height to form part of dwelling, which was restored in 1984. Listing NGR: SK3304654336' (1)
