Description

'PARISH OF OCKBROOK STATION ROAD, Borrowash SK 43 SW 3/85 (West Side) 10.11.67 Riverside House GV II House. Late C18 with early C19 addition and alterations, also with later alterations. Stuccoed brick with wide eaved, hipped slate roof, plus brick side wall and ridge stacks. Five bays, three western bays three storeys and two early C19 eastern bays two storeys. Two storey bow to east with large tripartite glazing bar sash in reeded surround. Semi-circular headed doorcase to west with reeded pilasters, raised keystone and panels to spandrels and moulded canopy above, also with C20 glazed doors and original traceried fanlight. Beyond to west is a canted bay window with full height glazing bar sashes and two flat headed 3-light windows, one to east with casements and that to west with small glazing bar sashes. Above three flat headed 3-light casement windows to west and a tall glazing bar sash over the doorcase to east with a large bowed tripartite glazing bar sash, similar to that below, beyond to east. Above again, in the three western bays there are three glazing bar sashes. Interior has nice detailing to early C19 part with original cornices and roses, also a wide staircase with shaped iron balusters. Good quality marble fireplaces to ground and first floor eastern rooms. Listing NGR: SK4143634163.'
