PARISH OF BREADSALL BROOKSIDE ROAD (North Side) Nos 7 & 9 (Rose Cottage & Shamrock Cottage)

Farmhouse, now two cottages. Probably early C17. Timber framed with painted brick nogging. Plain tile roof. Brick ridge, lateral and external gable stacks. Two storeys. Box framing exposed on all sides, with diagonal braces to some of the upper panels and a middle rail. East elevation of five bays of windows. C20 gabled porch. To the left is a 3-light casement and a 2-light oriel. Two Yorkshire sashes above, and two C20 gabled dormers above again. To the right of the porch is a Yorkshire sash with a casement above, a staircase window and a 3-light window with a Yorkshire sash above. The west elevation has eleven bays of framing completely exposed, with a mixture of early C19 and C20 casements. The interior of Rose Cottage has lobby entrance plan with an inglenook fireplace and exposed beams. Interior of Shamrock Cottage not inspected.
