Description

'PARISH OF RISLEY THE CITY SK 46 ne 2/86 (West Side) Brook House 6.9.79 (formerly listed as 'Brookside Cottage') GV II House. C17, encased in C18 and with minor later alterations. Timber frame on stone plinth, mostly rebuilt in red brick, which is now whitewashed. Steeply pitched pantile roof with brick gable stacks and a central brick ridge stack. Three bays and single storey plus attics with lobby entrance plan. To east there are two flat headed, probably early C19 3-light casement windows and to west is a panelled door with divided overlight and another 3-light casement window. Above, to centre, and west there are two raking dormers with 2-light casement windows set on the exposed original timber wall plate. The east gable wall also has a 2-light horizontal sliding sash in the gable. Interior has plain staircase between walls behind the front door. Middle room has an inglenook fireplace with fire windows to side. Listing NGR: SK4611435787.'
