Description

'PARISH OF ALDERWASLEY SK 35 SW 2/1 The Old Bear Inn II 22.8.80 Public House. Mid C18. Regularly coursed, squared gritstone with quoins, plain gables, end brick ridge stacks and a plain tiled roof. 'L' plan house, with recently remodelled single storey extensions to the rear. South elevation; two storeys with attics, four bays, the bay to the west gabled and advanced. Three bay range with central doorway with quoined surround, deeply bracketed flat hood and C20 door. Flanking the doorway are stacked window openings formerly flush mullioned, now with C20 glazing bar casements in old surrounds. First and attic floor windows of 2-lights, ground floor openings of 3-lights, the latter having been reduced in height by infil at the base. C20 shutters to ground floor. Above the doorway, a two stage stair window with a flush surround, with a shallow arched head to the upper light. Advanced wing with C20 3-light casement to ground floor, and first floor doorway to east side elevation with a flight of stone steps. Plain planked doors to this opening and to a plain ground floor doorway below. Listing NGR: SK3140852741.' (1)
