Description

'This list entry was subject to a Minor Amendment on 11/01/2013 SK 34 SW 3/93 PARISH OF QUARNDON CHURCH ROAD (West Side) No 125 (The Grange) (Formerly listed as No 127) II House. Late C18, substantially re-modelled early C19. Red brick, mostly cement rendered. Hipped and gabled Welsh slate roofs, the gabled parts with chamfered stone copings and plain kneelers. Two brick ridge stacks and three side wall stacks. Two storeys. Irregular L-plan. South elevation of two plus four bays, the left hand two slightly taller and with a hipped roof. This part has to the ground floor two glazing bar sashes with ogee glazing bars, and returned Tudor style hoodmoulds. Two similar but smaller windows above with shallow bowed balconies. Right hand part has a C20 glazed door to ground floor, a tall staircase window matching the others and two further similar windows and a smaller C20 window above in the same style. West elevation has a canted bay window with battlemented parapet and Gothick glazing. Brick wing to rear with glazing bar sashes under plain lintels and a doorcase with segmental pediment, made in 1959. Interior altered. Regency style staircase made in 1959. One re-used C18 chimneypiece. Listing NGR: SK3326340839.'
