Listed Building: WALL AND WELL HEAD AT SMALLEY LODGE (1158485)

'PARISH OF SMALLEY BELL LANE SK 44 SW 5/54 (North Side) 14.10.74 Wall and well head at Smalley Lodge (formerly listed separately as Well at Smalley Lodge and Entrance walls and gatepiers opposite Smalley Lodge') GV II Wall and well head. 1861 by W E Nesfield, built for the Miller- Mundys of Shipley Hall. The wall, which runs at right angles to the lodge and marks the former western boundary to Shipley Hall Park, has a red brick base with a stone balustrade in 'Old English' style above, i.e. with tapered balusters and ridgeback copings. To north end is an octagonal brick pier with moulded stone coping and to south end is a later stone pier. Slightly to the east is the well head which has a plain brick base with thick oak rail to top and a light timber superstructure of three banded posts supporting a conical slate roof with tall leaded finial.
