Milepost. Early C19. Cast iron post, triangular in plan, the upper part sloping to gabled back plate. The inscription reads '129/LONDON/QUARNDON/HULLAND WARD 6 MILES/ DERBY/3 MILES.' The Kedleston road formed part of the old London to Manchester highway. It was the first road in Derbyshire to be improved as a result of a Turnpike Act, in 1738.
