Description

'SK 34 SW QUARNDON KEDLESTON ROAD (South side) 1039- /3/10003 Milepost at SK 3289 4015 II Milepost. Early C19. Cast iron post, triangular in plan, the upper part sloping to gabled back plate. The inscription reads '129/LONDON/QUARNDON/HULLAND WARD 6 MILES/ DERBY/3 MILES.' The Kedleston road formed part of the old London to Manchester highway. It was the first road in Derbyshire to be improved as a result of a Turnpike Act, in 1738. Listing NGR: SK3289440148.'
