Description

'PARISH OF HOLMESFIELD MAIN ROAD SK 37 NW 5/162 Farm outbuilding to the south-east of 31.1.67 Holmesfield Hall (formerly listed as stable at Holmesfield Hall) GV II Farm outbuilding, formerly stable or cowhouse. Early C17 with C20 alterations and additions. Coursed coal measures sandstone, with ashlar dressings, quoins, coped gables with moulded kneelers, and a stone slated roof. South elevation. Two storeys, four bays, with a central ground floor opening within a plain surround, and a flight of stone steps at the west end, leading to an inserted first floor opening. Three first floor 2-light recessed chamfer mullioned windows, one now blocked. Rear elevation with two 2-light chamfer mullioned windows with dripmoulds above. Two doorways with quoined surrounds and massive lintels, one now blocked. Interior. Plain collar beam trusses support a single purlin roof. A massive stone buttress was added to the east end in the 1950s. Listing NGR: SK3196377660.'
