PARISH OF HOLMESFIELD CARTLEDGE LANE (East Side) Outbuilding to the north east of Cartledge Hall

Outbuilding, probably detached bakehouse, or kitchen, converted to a pair of dwellings in C19. C16, C17 and C19. Coursed squared coal measures sandstone with sandstone dressings. Stone slate roof with stone coped gable to west, and a C20 gable stack. Single storey and attics. South elevation has two doorways of unequal size in the centre, each with C19 plank doors. To the right a casement window set in a C17 recessed and chamfered stone surround, with lowered cill. To the left, a 3-light wooden casement, and a gabled dormer with casement windows set in a C17 recessed and chamfered stone surround, with lowered sill, and with evidence of two mullions sawn off at the top. The interior has a massive segmental arched hearth to the west gable wall.
