Description
'PARISH OF HOLMESFIELD UNTHANK LANE SK 37 NW 5/167 House to the south- 31.1.67 east of Unthank Hall (formerly listed as Old Stable at Unthank Hall) GV II House, formerly stable. C17, converted and extended in 1985. Coursed rubble coal measures sandstone with quoins, coped gables with moulded kneelers. C20 gable stacks and a stone slated roof. North-east elevation. Two storeys, two bay front, with C20 lean-to addition to south-west gable. Off-centre doorway restored 1985, with chamfered quoined surround and a massive lintel beneath dripmould. C20 plank door. Flanking doorway to the north-east, a 3-light window, to the south-west, a 2-light window, both with recessed chamfer mullions, some of which have C20 renewals. A 2 and a 3-light window, also chamfer mullioned to the first floor, without dripmoulds. North-east gable with a single first floor 2-light chamfer mullioned window, and above, three tiers of stone perches and entry holes for a former attic dovecote.
