Description

Public house. C17 with C19 additions and alterations. Rendered rubble, and coursed rubble gritstone with quoins, coped and plain gables, ridge and gable ashlar stacks, and Welsh slated roofs. Earlier L-plan range to south, and taller C19 range to north, with coped gables. East elevation of 2 storeys and 6 bays, with southern 3 bays having 3 ground-floor windows with one of 2 lights, and two of 3, in plain openings, with C20 casements. Above, 3 small glazing bar sashes with margin lights. Between the windows, a painted board giving details of the history of the house. Small advanced lean-to porch links with advanced taller 3-bay range, with three 3-light windows in flush stone surrounds, the centre window linked to a doorway with flush surround, and plain plank door. Window frames are C20 six-pane casements. Garage opening to north end, with planked doors. First floor has glazing-bar sash windows in painted flush surrounds. The lower part of the building formerly had a thatched roof covering. Listing NGR: SK3488663160
