Description

'ASHOVER SK3562 HOCKLEY LANE 1264-0/12/59 (East side) Hockley Cottage II House. Formerly a pair of cottages. Mid C18, with early C19 additions and C20 alterations. Regularly coursed squared gritstone with ashlar dressings, quoins, plain eaves, brick gable stacks, and Welsh slated roof. South-west elevation of 2 storeys and 3 bays, with stacked 2-light flush-mullioned windows with 2-pane casements to the southeast end, and a quoined doorway beneath a massive lintel, with a C20 glazed door. Centre bay with single-light C18 casement with flush surround at a lower level than the 2-light window, adjacent to quoins now forming part of the walling to the north-west bay. This has a doorway with plain flush jambs and a shallow lintel, a ground floor 2-light casement beneath a deep lintel, and a first floor 2-light flush-mullioned window with 2-paned casements. All windows have C20 louvred shutters. Listing NGR: SK3500662764.'
