Description

House and attached outbuildings, now incorporated into the house. C17 with early C19 and C20 alterations and additions. Coursed squared gritstone with gritstone dressings and quoins, stone slate roof with moulded stone copings, topped by ridge finials and C19 twin diamond set stone ridge stack and similar single gable end stack. Two storeys plus attics, on various levels. Originally a three bay house, now four, with additional outbuildings to west. South elevation has chamfered, flush quoined doorcase with original oak studded door. To east, advanced gabled bay with recessed and chamfered 3-light mullion window, to west similar window with line of quoins beyond. Blocked, four-centred cavetto moulded doorcase with incised spandrels and 4-light recessed and chamfered mullion window beyond to west, both early C20. Above similar C20 4-light window and to east three C17 3-light recessed and chamfered mullion windows. Full attic dormer to western bay of C17 house with 2-light recessed and chamfered mullion window. Fenestration all three pane metal casements or fixed lights. East gable wall has C17 4-light recessed and chamfered mullion window with 3-light C20 copy to north. Similar C17 window over and another C20 window to north. Large early C20 addition with mullioned windows attached to east of north elevation. To front of south elevation, a paved area with two flights of steps, possibly C17. Attached to extreme west, C19 barn with flush doorcase and windows. Interior of house has large bracketed stone fireplace and chamfered beams to south-east room. Listing NGR: SK2473365262
