Description

'BAKEWELL SK2168 BAGSHAW HILL 831-1/4/10 (North side) 20/05/74 Yew Tree House GV II House. Mid C18, altered early C19. Coursed limestone with ashlar sandstone dressings; concrete tile roof. EXTERIOR: 3 storeys, 2-window range; stair-wing to rear right. Large quoins. Central 6-panel door (the top 2 panels glazed) in painted stone architrave. Shallow canted bay window to right has stone apron and sill to sashes with 4/4, 8/8 and 4/4 panes beneath wooden cornice. Paired sashes with glazing bars to ground-floor left, and to first floor, have renewed raised-edge architraves and stone mullions. Second floor: 2 single 3/3 sashes. Ashlar gable copings on right; brick end stacks. Right return: a blocked 2-light chamfered mullioned window. INTERIOR: many mid C18 features including 2-panel doors, a fireplace with eared architrave and dogleg oak staircase with closed string, turned balusters and half-balusters against the newels; splat balusters to top landing.
