Description

'BAKEWELL SK2168 BATH STREET 831-1/4/23 (North side) 13/03/51 Bank House: Nos.2 AND 3 (Formerly Listed as: BATH STREET No.2 Bank House) GV II Part of enlarged house now 2 dwellings. Mid C18 and early C19, altered. Coursed limestone, ashlar sandstone dressings; Welsh slate and stone slate roofs. EXTERIOR: 3 storeys, 4-window range with small single-storey side wing on right. 3-storey part is mid C18: large quoins. 6-panel door and overlight in altered opening of bay 2; bay one has enlarged window with 6/6 sash, bays 3 and 4 with leaded casements in mullioned 2-light square-faced surrounds. First floor: plain ashlar surrounds to a 2/2 sash (bay one) and 3 6/6 sashes with thick glazing bars. Second floor: 2/2 sash, painted blind window then two 6/6 sashes; plain surrounds with lintel band. Coped parapet, gable coping and brick end stacks. Single-storey wing is C19: paired 2/2 sashes in mullioned stone surround; part-glazed door on right; stone slate roof. Rear: stair projection under catslide roof has tall cross-window with square-faced surround and low transom. 2-storey lean-to on left. INTERIOR: not inspected. Interlocked and formerly with internal access to No.1 Bank House (qv). The whole range at one time served as a school. No.2 occupies part of the 3-storey range; No.3 occupies the rest together with the side wing. Listing NGR: SK2175968625.'
