Description
PARISH OF HASSOP BAKEWELL ROAD SK 27 SW 2/142 (North Side) 12.7.67 Dowager House GV II House, now divided in three. Mid C17. Coursed squared limestone with sandstone dressings and quoins. Stone slate roof, coped gables with plain and moulded kneelers. Two ashlar ridge stacks. Three storeys. South elevation of three gabled bays, the outer bays projecting. Moudled first and second floor bands forming continuous hoodmoulds to the windows. Central doorway with chamfered surround, massive lintel and quoins. Panelled door. Flanked by 2-light recessed and chamfered mullion windows. A similar window to each of the outer bays. The first floor has four similar windows and the second floor three similar windows with horizontal hoodmoulds. The rear elevation has a gabled bay to right with a 2-light recessed and chamfered mullion window and a former 2-light window now with a C19 half glazed door set in. Similar window above and above again. To the left a recessed bay with ground floor lean-to partly obscuring a single light window above. To the left again a pair of gabled bays, the right hand one forming a staircase tower with two 2-light recessed and chamfered mullion windows. A blocked 2-light and two single lights to left.
