Description

'PARISH OF BEELEY DEVONSHIRE SQUARE SK 26 NE 5/39 (South Side) 19.6.81 Devonshire Arms GV II Public House. Late C18 and early C19. Coursed squared gritstone with gritstone dressings and quoins. Stone slate roofs, the east range with coped gables and moulded kneelers. Ashlar gable stacks and a ridge stack. Two storeys. North elevation of two plus three bays. Three bay part to right has a plain first floor band. Central ashlar porch with shallow segmental pointed open arch. Moulded cornice. Flanked by 2-light square section flush mullion windows with small pane casements. Three similar 2-light windows above. Left hand part has central doorway with stone lintel and jambs, and bracketed. stone hood. To the left a 2-light square section flush mullion window with similar above, and to the right a 2-light casement in flush stone surround with narrower small pane casement above. Curving ashlar walls with coped top, attached to north, enclose a narrow paved area. Listing NGR: SK2651567433.'
