Description
'SK 17 SE PARISH OF GREAT LONGSTONE LONGSTONE LANE 3/6 (East Side) North Lodge and attached gate and gate piers at Thornbridge Hall GV II
Lodge. c1897, probably by Charles Hadfield. Rubble limestone with gritstone dressings. Partly rendered and with pseudo timber framing. Plain tile roofs with coped gables, moulded kneelers and ball finials. Paired stone stack and a massive triplet of diamond plan stacks. Irregular plan and elevations. One and two storeys. East elevation has central doorway with moulded stone surround and bracketed hood. Small circular window to right. To right again, a tall gabled bay with 2-light mullion window to each floor and chamfered stringcourse above each window. To the left, a single light window and a polygonal bay at the comer. West elevation has doorway and a window and a canted bay window to ground floor. Upper floor to the left is cement rendered and has applied timber framing. Attached on south side ashlar gate piers, square in plan, the left hand one with an urn, and a wrought iron gate.
