SK 17 NE PARISH OF FOOLOW THE GREEN 3/73 (South Side) The Old Hall (formerly listed 12-7-67 as 'The Hall') GV II House, now two houses. Early C17 with minor C18, C19 and C20 additions and alterations. Coursed limestone rubble, rendered to south. Gritstone dressings and quoins. Slate roof with stone slates and C20 concrete tiles to additions. Moulded stone copings and kneelers to north gable. Large stone north gable end and ridge stacks. Two and a half storeys, two bays. Rectangular plan with C18 addition to west and C19 addition to east. West elevation has two storey projecting C18 bay to north with chamfered 2-light north window with tall fixed small pane window over. To south, two 3-light recessed and cavetto moulded mullion windows. Above, two similar windows with dripmoulds. Above again, under eaves, two recessed and cavetto moulded 2-light mullion windows, that to south now without mullion. South elevation has recessed and cavetto moulded 4-light mullion and transomed window with dripmould. To east, C19 addition has rock-faced doorcase with bracketed stone hood, now covered by C20 glazed porch. Beyond, glazing bar sash in rock-faced surround. Above, similar windows to those below. Above again, to west, 3-light recessed and cavetto moulded mullion window with dripmould. East elevation has two storey canted bay window with recessed and cavetto moulded 3-light mullion and transom window to front and similar 2-light window to south side. Similar window to north side, replaced by wooden one. Continuous dripmould over ground and first floor windows. To south, 2-light recessed and cavetto moulded mullion window under dripmould. Similar single light window to north. Above, in bay, similar windows to those below except northern one intact. Between ground and first floor windows, quoined corners form chequerwork of gritstone and limestone rubble. To either side, 2-light recessed and cavetto moulded mullion windows with dripmoulds. Above, under eaves to north, similar window. Most fenestration two pane casements. Interior to northern section has large voussoired fireplace to north, half newel stone staircase, continuing up in wood to attics and upper cruck to roof with arched braces and central pendant.
