Description
'SK 38/3925 PARISH OF MELBOURNE MARKET PLACE 6/139 (South Side) No 26 GV II House and shop. Early C19, but probably with earlier core. Rendered brick on stone plinth with painted stone dressings and flush quoins. Plain tile roof with central brick ridge stack and sawtooth eaves band. Two storeys and three bays with double range plan. Attractive late C19 advanced shop front to east with central, recessed, glazed panelled door under a plain overlight, flanked by canted single pane shop windows, plus moulded and dentilled cornice over, with iron cresting. To west there is a glazing bar sash below a wedge lintel with lower edge slightly arched to either side of the keystone. Beyond to west there is a plain doorcase with a bracketed hood, panelled door and traceried overlight, below similar lintel. Above three glazing bar sashes below similar lintels.
