Description
'SK 38/3925 PARISH OF MELBOURNE CHURCH CLOSE 6/93 (West Side) The Dower House GV II House. 1829 with late C19 alterations and C20 addition. Ashlar with hipped slate roof and ashlar ridge stack, plus moulded eaves cornice. Two storeys and four bays, plus C20 addition to west. South elevation has a glazing bar sash to west with an advanced bay window to east, which has double glazed doors to front with narrow flanking side lights, also a moulded cornice with blocking course above. Beyond to west there are two full height windows with C20 glazed doors. Above there are four glazing bar sashes. Western addition has glazing bar sashes. To east elevation there is an off-centre pilastered doorcase with panelled door flanked by narrow side lights and a moulded cornice above supported by carved consoles. Rear window has datestone over inscribed 'I E 1829'. Central room has an early C19 marble fireplace with reeded jambs and carved roundels to top corners. Staircase is late C19.
