'SK 23 NW PARISH OF OSLESTON & THURVASTON OSLESTON 1/39 (West Side) 19.1.67 Osleston Hall GV II
Farmhouse. Late C16 with C19 and C20 alterations. Close studded timber frame on stone plinth, partly encased in brick and completely rendered. Steeply pitched plain tile roof with brick ridge and gable stacks. Two storeys plus attics and three bays with advanced gabled crosswing to east, South elevation has C19 gabled porch over a C19 glazed panelled door, to west of which is a large C20 3-light casement window. To east is a 2-light glazing bar casement and beyond, in the crosswing, is a 3-light glazing bar casement. Above, to west, similar windows to those below, but in the crosswing there is a glazing bar sash and over, in the gable, is a small single pane window. The rear elevation has a stone lean-to to the west side, and to the west corner, part of the timber frame is visible. Interior has fine quality, early Cl7 panelling with a fluted frieze in the west bedroom and inglenook fireplaces. The staircase is narrow with stick balusters to one side. The timber frame is mostly hidden, but in the attics the original double purlin roof is still visible.
