Description
'SK 38/3925 PARISH OF MELBOURNE POTTER STREET 6/160 (South Side) Nos 16 and 18 GV II Pair of houses with shops to ground floors. Mid C18 with late C19 alterations. Red brick in Flemish Bond with gauged brick and stone dressings, plus stone plinth to No 18. Steeply pitched plain tile roof with brick gable end stack to west and a large off-centre ridge stack, also with brick coped gables on plain stone kneelers and moulded stone eaves cornice. Both houses, three storeys. No 16, single bay and No 18, two bays. No 16 to west has steps up to recessed glazed panelled door below plain overlight with triple pane shop window to west and continuous moulded cornice above. To east side of door is a semi-circular headed opening with panelled door leading into an alley between the houses. Above there is a plain sash below flat gauged brick arch and above again there is a similar smaller window. No 18 to east has central double doors with plain overlight, recessed between triple paned shop windows with moulded cornice above. Above there are two glazing bar sashes below flat gauged brick arches and above again there are two similar smaller windows.
