'PARISH OF NEWTON SOLNEY NEWTON ROAD SK 22 SE 2/64 (East Side) 22-3-72 Nos 1 & 2 Bladon Garden Cottages and Stable Block adjoining No 2 II Pair of cottages and stable block. Early C19. Red brick, plain tile roofs with gable stacks to the cottages and one gable stack to the stable. Three two storey ranges joined by single storey links. Stable block at south end. East elevation of three bays has central segment headed doorway with plank door. Flanked on each side by Yorkshire sashes under wedge lintels. The first floor has a central doorway beneath a gabled hood with hoist wheel. C20 iron balcony. Flanked by Yorkshire sashes. Further segment headed doorway on ground floor to right. The link bay has a doorway and glazing bar sash, each with segment head. Cottage to right has symmetrical two bay front with glazing bar sashes and a doorway, all under segment heads. Segment headed doorway to the link bay. North cottage is also double fronted with segment headed windows except one, C20 window opening. The main elevations face east. The two cottages are double fronted, with pedimented wooden doorcases, panelled doors and fanlights. Flanked by glazing bar sashes under wedge brick lintels. Three similar windows above, the two outer ones to the north cottage have been replaced with C20 casements. The two link bays are slightly recessed and have round arched openings. The rear of the stable block is blind apart from four decorative iron grills at half height. Listing NGR: SK2674624870.'
