'PARISH OF BARROW-UPON-TRENT CHAPEL LANE SK 32 NE 4/2 (South Side) Lodge Cottage

Cottage. c1810. Rendered brick, with decorative tooled finish. Deeply overhanging Welsh slate hipped roof. Rendered ridge stack. Canted end to road. Single storey. The canted end has three ogee arched windows with Y-tracery, casements and hoodmoulds. To the south is an openwork timber porch with ogee arch. The north elevation has another similar ogee-arched window. The canted end to the east is obscured by a later extension, not of special interest. Attached to the south west are circular gate piers with moulded tops. The lodge was built to serve the now demolished Barrow Hall, which was built c1810.
