Description
Vicarage. 1843 by Joseph Mitchell of Sheffield, in Tudor Style, with C20 additions. Rock faced stone with ashlar dressings and plinth. Slate roofs with stone ridge tiles, moulded stone copings to gables on moulded kneelers and two stone gable stacks, stone ridge stack and a large external side wall stack to north with three diamond set pots. Two storeys plus attics and three bays, plus C20 additions to east and west. South elevation has an advanced gabled bay to east with canted bay window which has almost full height chamfered mullion and transomed windows and embattled parapets above. Central chamfered four-centred arched doorcase to west with glazed door and tall 3-light chamfered mullion and transomed window, beyond. Above there are two 2-light chamfered mullion windows and a central single light similar window. Above in the eastern gable is a similar single light window. All windows with margin lights. Advanced pebbledashed addition to east has a central segment headed door flanked by plain sashes and a 3-light casement window above. Rock faced lean-to addition to west has C20 small pane casements above and below. North, street elevation has a central gabled porch with four-centred arched doorcase and an advanced bay to east with a 4-light mullion window. To west there is the large external stack with blind slit windows. Above there is one single light and one 2-light chamfered mullion window with margin lights and above again in the east gable there is a similar single light window. Interior has turned baluster staircase, tiled hall floor, moulded cornices and marble fireplaces.
