SK 18 SE PARISH OF ASTON THORNHILL LANE 7/3 (North Side) Highfield Head Farmhouse & 9.1.76 attached outbuilding II
Farmhouse and outbuilding now all converted to house . C17. Rubble gritstone with gritstone dressings. Stone slate roof with one stone ridge stack and two gable end stacks. Two storeys, long house plan. Originally probably single storeyed, but later raised and with one bay with C19 addition at west end. South elevation from left to right, ten bays. Bay one set back with C19 casement window to each floor, then a 2-light recessed and chamfered mullion window with similar above and a similar 4-light window with similar 3-light above. Bay four with a C20 gabled porch, then a 2-light recessed and chamfered mullion window with similar 3-light above. Bay six with a segmental-arched cart entrance now with C20 glazing, then a C20 single storey lean-to projecting forward, then two more windows to the ground floor set within former doorways and three C20 casement windows above,
