Description

Formerly Wharfingers house and office, now house. c I800 by B Outram. Coursed, squared gritstone. Gritstone dressings. Slate roof. Central stone ridge stack. Two storeys. South elevation - doorcase with flush jambs and moulded hood to west. C20 panelled door. To east casement window with flush surround and projecting sill. Two similar windows over. To east again similar window, next to door, similar to that to west. Single similar window over. To east gable wall two two-light flush mullion windows and single window, all adjoining to form five-light window. Further single window to north. Listed for its historical interest as part of the Peak Forest Canal. Office used for checking tonnage passing through gauging lock. Situated by Buxworth Canal Basin, a Scheduled Site.
