'BUXTON SK0573SE MARKET PLACE 616-1/4/56 (East side) 21/12/70 Nos.2 AND 3 New Inn (Formerly Listed as: MARKET PLACE (East side) Nos.2 AND 3 The New Inn Hotel) GV II Formerly known as: The New Sun Hotel MARKET PLACE. Hotel, now Public House. Late C18 or early C19, altered C19 and C20. Coursed and dressed millstone grit to front, rock cut to rear with ashlar dressings. Welsh slate roof with stone stacks. EXTERIOR: 3 storeys. Plinth, first-floor sill band and wooden eaves. Front has 4-window range. Off-centre round headed doorway in round outer arch with pilaster surround and stained glass fanlight with the words New Inn in rusticated surround. Single plain sash to right, two plain sashes to left all with C20 canopy hoods and shutters. Above 4 plain sashes, and above again 3 small plain sashes and a blind window over the door. Rear has 4 window irregular front, with door to left, then 2 plain sashes and 4 toilet windows. Above 5 irregularly spaced sashes, and above again 4 further sashes that to right a double sash. Bracketed eaves cornice raised to right with gabled dormer above with plain sashes. INTERIOR: much altered. Listing NGR: SK0586673261.'
