Description

'BUXTON SK0573SE HIGH STREET 616-1/4/49 (East side) No.33 Sun Inn GV II Coaching inn, now public house. Probably mid C18, altered and extended C19 and C20. Rendered and incised painted dressed stone for door and window surrounds. Welsh slate roof and 4 stone stacks. PLAN: 3-unit plan. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, irregular 4-window front. Painted plinth. Off-centre doorway with panel door in painted surround with hood. Either side single plain sashes in painted surrounds, to right a similar sash and beyond a doorway with painted surround and hood, to left a large segment headed carriage arch with double plank doors. Above a pair of large plain sashes in painted surrounds flanked by similar single sashes, and to left a single through eaves raking dormer with plain sash. Rear elevation, irregular 5-window front arranged 3:2. Lean-to to left has off-centre plank door with 2 casements to left and single plain sash to right. Above 2 plain sashes and a smaller sash to right. Gabled wing to right has flat headed carriage arch and above a plain sash to right a former loft doorway now a casement window. INTERIOR: not inspected. Listing NGR: SK0576673036.'
