Full Description

Stone built well given to the parish in 1869 by Mrs H Alderson for the public supply of water. It is a distinctive feature of the village and has been decorated annually as a local custom. It is now used as a public shelter. It has been recently re-roofed and is in a good state of repair. It was donated to, and is owned by, the parish. (1) Shown as a well on the 1st ed. OS map of the 1880s, although no longer marked as such on the 2nd ed. of 1900.
