Full Description

Milepost with triangular section. (1) Milepost, Listed Grade II. Early 19th century cast iron milepost. On the west side 'Mansfield 7 miles'; on the east side 'Alfreton 2 miles'. Top marked 'South Normanton'. (2) Milepost on the south side of the Alfreton and Mansfield turnpike road. It was manufactured by Midworth of Mansfield, presumably in 1828 as 'MIDWORTH/MANSFIELD 1828 is written on the base. (3)
