Full Description

An early 19th century cast iron milepost that has a triangular section at the top and is inscribed with 'WINDLEY / LONDON / 133 / MILES'; and on the sides 'WIRKSWTH / 6 / MILES' and 'DERBY / 7 / MILES'. (1) The milepost was manufactured by J Harrison of Derby. (2) The mile post is triangular in plan with the upper part sloping to the back plate with a curved top. (3)
