Milepost, Wirksworth Road, Windley, an early 19th century structure. 'An early 19th century cast iron milepost that is triangular in plan with the upper part sloping towards a back plate which has a curved top. Inscribed: 'WINDLEY / LONDON / 132 / MILES / WIRKSWh / 7 / MILES / DERBY / 6 / MILES'.' (1) The milepost was manufactured by J Harrison, Derby. (2) From the National Heritage List for England: 'SK 34 NW PARISH OF WINDLEY WIRKSWORTH ROAD 1/118 (West Side) Mile Post at OS 324 443 II Mile post. Early C19. Cast iron. Triangular in plan with upper part sloping to back plate with curved top. Inscribed: WINDLEY/ LONDON/132/MILES/WIRKSWh/7/MILES/DERBY/6/MILES. Listing NGR: SK3239244250.' (3)
