Full Description

Turnpike milestone marking 5 miles from Chesterfield and 4 miles from Rowsley as shown on late 19th century OS maps. (1, 2) On the 3rd edition OS map of the early 20th century the milestone is marked as defaced. (3) Milestone on the old Chesterfield-Rowsley turnpike at Stanedge. Made of millstone grit, probably original. The inscription is illegible. 32" high. (4-6)
