Full Description

No. 161 Ashbourne Road, Derby, an early 19th century building. 'Toll House, Ashbourne Road. Two storey early nineteenth century brick toll house with ashlar stone facing and slate roof and a projecting bay with splayed sides. The Derby-Ashbourne road was improved under an Act of 1777.' (1) From the National Heritage List for England: 'ASHBOURNE ROAD 1. 5170 (South Side) No 16l SK 33 NW 7/25 II 2. Early C19. Originally a toll house. Cement-rendered; 2 storeys; 2 sash windows; splayed front with one ground storey window on splay at each side; band at 1st floor sills; plain door set under large segmental recess; slates.
