Full Description

Mile Post, Kedleston Road. Triangular cast-iron mile post on the line of the Derby-Manchester turnpike. The upper triangle bears the legend '128 London', on the slope 'Markeaton', on the left hand side 'Hulland Ward 7 miles', and on the right hand side 'Derby 2 miles'. Bears a raised plate on both sides at foot 'J Haywood, Phoenix Foundry, Derby'. (1) Milepost at junction of Kedleston Road/Allestree Lane. SK3346 3867. Cast iron "London 128, Derby 2, Hulland Ward 7" (2) Width of milepost 18", depth 8", visible height 40". Painted white with the lettering picked out in black. (3)
