Full Description

Wagon Repair Workshops. built by the Midland Railway in 1873 as part of the extensive Chaddesden wagon shunting sidings. Part destroyed by fire in the 1990s. Currently occupied by a fireplace manufacturer. (1) The building recorded in 2021 was only part of a complex built in the 1870s. The original repair shop consisted of an office above a workshop, attached to a large shed covering 3 sidings for the wagons under repair. The shed was demolished in the 1980s, leaving the a long narrow building for use as a fireplace workshop. A fire later damaged the remaining part of the complex. In 2021 the surviving part was due for removal. (2)
