Full Description

Model farm built for John Bell Crompton, banker and prominent innovative agriculturalist, in c. 1855. The farm includes a 'gentry-style' main house,with an additional house at the back, possibly for a farm manager. There is a range of farm buildings around a courtyard, including loose boxes, stables, cattle byres with foddering, a cart shed, pig styes etc. (1)
