No. 16 The Green (Yeoman's House), Aston upon Trent, built in 1690. 'This L-shaped brick house, facing west onto the former Green, is now occupied by a suite of offices and a storeroom on the ground floor, and three residential flats above, one in the wing and one on each of the upper floors of the house. It was built in the late 17th century as a three-cell house, with diaper brickwork on the west wall, and a date stone reading "C W M 1690". It has been much altered since it was built.' (1) From the National Heritage List for Engalnd: 'SK 42 NW PARISH OF ASTON-UPON-TRENT THE GREEN 4/4 (East Side) 10.11.67 No 16 II Farmhouse, now three flats and offices. 1690 with C18 alterations and major C20 internal alterations. Red brick, with some diaper work to street front, on stone plinth. Steeply pitched plain tile roof with large rendered ridge stack. L-plan. Two storeys plus garrets and three bays. Street elevation has diaper work in vitrified headers to about half way up the second storey. Ground floor has three 3-light segment headed windows with C20 leaded casements and between the northern two is a small blocked segment headed window. Above, there are three similar windows, that to centre, which is the only original window, set slightly more to south than that below. Between the northern two windows is a diamond shaped datestone inscribed 'WCM 1690'. Above again to south just under the eaves is a small 2-light window, and over this in the roof is a C20 roof light. Rear elevation has 2 and 3-light C20 leaded casement windows and a C20 door with bracketed porch roof. Interior completely altered. Listing NGR: SK4156129527.' (2)
