Full Description
Enclosed site, presumed to be a roadside limestone quarry, with incline from road corner between overgrown spoil mounds. Long disused and grown with mature trees, south of main Loads Knowl quarry. It may have had links to the Peak Forest Tramway, or relate to the construction of the quarry branch. It is small scale, with no obvious remains of a kiln for lime burning. It dates to pre-1879. (1).
