Full Description

Colliery Settlement. Only the school and one or two short terraces remain of the colliery settlement associated with the nearby Bonds Main Colliery which has now disappeared under the M1 motorway and its ramifications. (1) The village is not shown on the 1st ed. OS 25", and is under construction on the 2nd OS 25". The completed village is shown on the 3rd ed OS 25", and includes a school, post office and allotments in addition to the housing. (2)
