Protected Status/Designation

Full Description

First World War memorial built in 1925 and dedicated to the men of Bolehill and Steeple Grange who sacrificed their lives in the First World War, with a further two who lost their lives in the Second World War. Designed by Harry Hopkins and built by W Gallimore and Sons, both of Wirksworth. It is constructed in reinforced concrete blocks and takes the form of an alcove shelter. It is rectangular in plan and built in a classical design. Its form is unusual; it is also innovative in its early use of reinforced moulded concrete, which adds to its architectural interest. (1)
