Full Description

Mr Thompson (recorded as Mr Matthews in Bowle's editorial notes) excavated a hollow near the summit of Thorpe Cloud in or before 1911. He discovered the area had been disturbed, but he uncovered twelve sherds (recorded as five in Boyle's editorial edition) of a wide-mouthed vessel. Two metal artefacts, one a spike of copper about 2½ inches long, possibly a brooch pin, and a scrap of thin copper with gold enamelled black on one side were also found. (1, 2)
