Milepost, Pentrichlane-end, Pentrich, erected in the mid-19th century. (1) From the National Heritage List for England: 'This list entry was subject to a Minor Amendment on 31/10/2014 SK 35 SE 4/86 PARISH OF PENTRICH, PENTRICH LANE END Milepost to the west of the junction of Chesterfield Road and Wood Lane II Milepost. Mid C19. Cast iron milepost, triangular in section, with dished upper face inscribed 'PARISH OF PENTRICH J HAYWOOD JNR'. North-east face reads 'DERBY 11 MILES'. South-west face reads 'CLAY CROSS 7 MILES, CHESTERFIELD 12 MILES, DRONFIELD 18 MILES. SHEFFIELD 24 MILES. The milepost is situated on the route of the former direct turnpike route between Derby and Sheffield shown on Burdetts map of Derbyshire 1862-7. Listing NGR: SK3774951897.' (2)
