Milepost, Wirksworth Road, Shottle and Postern, an early 19th century structure. 'Early 19th century cast iron milepost, triangular in plan, rising to a back plate with a segmental top. The top is inscribed 'Shottle / LONDON / 135 / MILES. The north side of the triangular section is inscribed WIRKSWH / 4 / MILES and the south side has DERBY / 9 / MILES.'(1) From the National Heritage List for England: 'PARISH OF SHOTTLE AND POSTERN WIRKSWORTH ROAD SK 24 NE 3/67 Milepost 500 yds west south west of the junction of Wirksworth Road and Calladine Lane II Milepost.
