Milepost, Wirksworth Road, Shottle and Postern, an early 19th century structure.
'Early 19th century cast iron milepost, triangular in plan, rising to a back plate with a segmental top. The top is inscribed 'Shottle / LONDON / 135 / MILES. The north side of the triangular section is inscribed WIRKSWH / 4 / MILES and the south side has DERBY / 9 / MILES.'(1)

'PARISH OF SHOTTLE AND POSTERN WIRKSWORTH ROAD SK 24 NE 3/67 Milepost 500 yds west south west of the junction of Wirksworth Road and Calladine Lane II Milepost. Early C19. Cast iron, triangular in section, rising to back plate with segmental top. Inscribed: SHOTTLE/LONDON/135/MILES/WIRKSWORTH/4/MILES DERBY/8/MILES.
