Full Description
Milepost, Nottingham Hill, Somercotes, an early 19th century structure.
'Early 19th century cast iron milepost. It has a triangular section base with a sloping head and is painted white with raised lettering picked out in black. The west side is inscribed 'NOTTM / 14 / MILES', the east side is inscribed 'ALFRN / 2 / MILES' and the top is inscribed 'ALFRETON / PARISH'. It stood on the Nottingham-Alfreton turnpike road.' (1)
