Full Description

The site is shown on late 19th century OS maps as 'High Leas Cottage', but the buildings are not present on an early 20th century OS map. (1, 2, 3) A wooded area, measuring 6m by 8m, enclosed by dry stone walls and containing rough cut moss covered limestone blocks up to 0.50m long was identified at SK 3109 5754 during survey in 2008. It was not clear if this area was a quarry or discarded stone, but it is near to the site of High Leas Cottage. (4)
