Full Description

The 1st ed. 2" OS map of 1840 marks the site as a limestone quarry with a lime kiln. (1) Earthworks are shown in this area on the 1st ed. 25" OS map, indicating that quarrying had ceased by the late 1870s, having moved further north (2). Earthworks are clearly visible on aerial photographs (3, 4).
